Improvements to SQL Editor
Code Quality Check and Code Assist functionality have been improved in Rapid SQL Developer 2.0 to provide further comprehension and more fluid code development while working in the environment:Debugging Functionality
Rapid SQL Developer now features a fully-contained debug process, for the purpose of debugging stored routines in the development environment prior to execution. The debug process is managed via the Debug view, and enables users to manage common debug functionality such as breakpoints and step over, as well as providing variable and dependency views. Additionally, Rapid SQL Developer fully supports cross-platform debugging, which enables you to debug SQL procedures embedded inside Java code.Enhancements to Data Source Explorer
Rapid SQL Developer 2.0 provides enhancements to Data Source Explorer. This includes improvements to auto-discovery and import functionality, search, and filtering functionality.SQL Templates
This version of Rapid SQL Developer introduces a selection of 267 fully-customizable code templates that enable developers to select a DML or DDL statement schematic and drop it into SQL Editor. Placeholder syntax can be replaced manually with statement variables, or otherwise customized to meet development needs.Data Source Indexing
The Data Source Cache has been renamed the Data Source Index to better reflect the nature of its functionality. Rapid SQL Developer can be installed as a standalone application (RCP installation) or as an Eclipse plug-in (Plug-in Installation). Eclipse is an open source development framework that supports application plug-ins to provide additional functionality.
The Eclipse plug-in version of Rapid SQL Developer requires Eclipse version 3.3 or higher, and Sun Java Standard Edition 5.0 Update 11 or later in addition to regular system requirements.
Before installing the plug-in version of Rapid SQL Developer, ensure that Eclipse and Java is installed on your machine. You can download Eclipse from the following Web site: http://www.eclipse.org/downloads.
