What's New in Version 2.6.2
Apache/IIS Web Server Options on Install
During an installation of Performance Center you are now given several
options for the Web Server:
- If you don’t have any web servers installed, Performance Center installs, by default, Apache 2.2.6 on port 80.
- You are notified if you have both the IIS Server and Apache installed (any version greater than 2.0.35).
You can then choose which server you want to use.
- If you have the IIS Server and an older version of Apache installed (older than 2.0.35),
you are given the choice of selecting the IIS Server or upgrading the Apache Server.
- If the Apache server, version 2.0.35 or later, is installed on your computer, a message is displayed that “a valid Apache installation has been detected on your computer.”
Release Notes

The following are the minimum hardware and system requirements to run
Performance Center:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2000, 2003, and XP
- 512 MB of RAM
- 250 MB of hard disk space (more space is recommended in large
environments)
- Database vendor-specific middleware for connectivity to repository and
monitored data sources
The following are the minimum hardware and system requirements to run
Performance Center Client:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2000, 2003, and XP
- 64 MB of RAM
- 75 MB of hard disk space
DBMS Support
Performance Center supports the following platforms:
- Oracle 8i, 9i, and 10g
- Sybase ASE 12.0, 12.5, 15
- IBM DB2 for LUW 8 and 9
- Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005
Known Issues
- A known issue causes problems with the installation program. The following
measures should be taken if Performance Center does not install or uninstall
properly:
Problem: Embarcadero Performance Center does not
uninstall and starts the validation of the Performance Center
installation.
Solution: Remove the validation key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Embarcadero\Performance
Center\2.6\InstallationOptions\Validator.
Problem: Embarcadero
Performance Center setup does not install/copy all files. An error message
indicates it cannot register a list of DLL files.
Solution: Remove
the validation key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Embarcadero\Performance
Center\2.6\InstallationOptions\InstallPreReqReboot.
Problem:
Embarcadero Performance Center does not install, but opens the uninstall
window.
Solution: Remove the uninstall key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{0D57C744-A9F6-4D3D-A86A-C8E45214EBA8}
Problem: Embarcadero Performance Center fails to install with
unknown causes. Running the installation and uninstallation programs do
nothing, and the solutions provided above do not help.
Solution:
Follow the steps below:
1. Remove
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Embarcadero\Performance Center.
2. Remove
the following Paul Bunyan keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Diamond
Sierra\Paul Bunyan
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Levons
Wake
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Paul

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Eventlog\Application\Paul

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Services\Eventlog\Application\Paul

3. Delete the shortcut located in Start\Programs\Startup\Server
Status.
4. Restart the machine.
5. Stop the 'Embarcadero
Performance Center' service.
6. Stop the ETPMonSvc.exe process via
Task Manager.
7. Delete all of the files from the Program
Files\Performance Center directory.
- There is a known issue when attempting to register a DB2 UDB LUW database
that is at release level v8.2.0003 and later (v8.1 Fixpack 10 and later).
Performance Center reports an error when trying to populate the list of
available database login IDs. This is a known issue since the introduction of
Fixpack 10, and is related to a post-installation task that needs to be
performed against the DB2 server. In order to resolve this issue you must
follow the post-installation tasks in the DB2 Fixpack ReadMe file related to
binding package "db2schema.bnd", and grant access to this package to PUBLIC:
db2 BIND /db2schema.bnd BLOCKING ALL GRANT
PUBLIC sqlerror continue
This action only needs to be performed
once for every database in the DB2 server, not for all clients.
- When installing Performance Center using domain user account
authentication, do not use a user account that is subject to password change
policies. If the password changes, the Performance Center service will not
restart. Workaround: Uninstall Performance Center and reinstall using
the new password.
- There is a known issue when attempting to register a DB2 UDB LUW database
that is at release level v8.2.0003 and later (v8.1 Fixpack 10 and later).
Performance Center reports an error when trying to populate the list of

- When installing Performance Center, if IIS is the default web server, it
is strongly recommended that an actual domain user is selected to run the
service, and not the Local System account. Also, that user must be in the
administrators group.

Licensing Your Embarcadero Technologies Product
All Embarcadero Technologies products include a 14-day trial
period. To continue using the product without interruption, we recommend that
you license it as soon as possible. See the steps outlined below to license
Performance Center. If
you have not yet purchased your Embarcadero Technologies product, contact [email protected], or [email protected] and [email protected]
for sales in the EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions, respectively.
Licensing Performance Center
To license the product, take the following steps:
1. You can
install the Performance Center Server and Client or only install the
Performance Center Client using the new MSI installation.
2. After
successful installation, open the Performance Center Client from the Desktop,
or go to Start > Programs > Embarcadero Performance Center >
Performance Center.
3. When the Performance Center Client starts
for the first time, the About Performance Center dialog is displayed. Click
Register to open the Performance Center Client 2.6.0 Registration
dialog.
NOTE: To register Performance Center, you need a valid
serial number and an active Developers Network (DN) account. This also applies
to the Trial version of Performance Center.
4. Enter the Serial Number
and the DN account number into the correct fields in the Performance Center
Client 2.6.0 Registration dialog and click Register.
5. After
successful registration of the Performance Center Client, select Manage
from the About Performance Center dialog to open the Embarcadero Product
License Manager dialog. This registers the Performance Center Server. It also
displays the number of server license add-ons that have been successfully
registered.
6. From the Embarcadero Product License Manager dialog
select Serial and then click Add to enter the valid serial
number for the Performance Center Server. The newly added serial number is
listed on the Unregistered Serial Numbers node. For this serial number to
become valid, expand the Unregistered Numbers node, right-click on the newly
entered serial number, and select Register. The Embarcadero Product
Registration dialog appears. Enter the correct DN account to register the
serial number for the server.
7. To add the add-on for the number of
data sources to be registered on the Performance Center Server, follow the
same steps used for registering the Performance Center Server.
NOTE: After registering the Performance Center Server and
Client, you need to restart the Performance Center Server for the License to
take effect.
If you install only the Performance Center Client, the
registration steps are the same, but only for the Client registration.
