Thank
you for using IDERA ER/Studio Business Architect. This is a tool for creating
and sharing a graphical representation of your business from the core concepts
that describe the business, to the processes that run the business. ER/Studio
Business Architect's Process Modeling capabilities allow you to easily model
your business processes and model how those processes use data. ER/Studio
Business Architect's Conceptual Modeling provides an intuitive way to outline
subject areas and concepts that can then drive the creation of detailed data
models.
Getting Started
There are several tools available to help you get started with
ER/Studio Business Architect:
·
Once you install ER/Studio Business Architect, you can import and
open the sample compressed workspace that is included with the install

·
For an in-depth tutorial, see the Quick Start Guide which walks

What's New in Version 16.5
ER/Studio Business Architect 16.5 begins a rollout of rebranding
this product from Embarcadero to IDERA. Note that these changes include a new
license agreement, installation and data directories, icons, file names,
registry settings, and more. For more information about IDERA and IDERA
products, see www.idera.com.
Updated Repository Check Out /
Check In Records
In this release of ER/Studio
Business Architect, checkouts now include a unique identifier or token to
easily resolve identification issues when attempting to check in a workspace to
the Repository. Previously, workspace checkouts included the host machine name
as part of the identifier in the checkout record. This process caused issues in
virtualized environments when the host names did not match upon reconciliation
at check in, perhaps because the user disconnected from the repository before
checking in the work.
What's New in Version 16.0
There are no new features in this
release.
What's New in Version 1.7.2
Universal Mappings Availability in Impact
Analysis
Users can now view any Universal Mappings applied to objects that
belong to workspaces in the Repository. You cannot create, edit or delete
mappings.
As of this release, ER/Studio Business Architect is compatible
with ER/Studio Repository 6.6.
What's New in Version 1.7
ER/Studio Repository 6.0 Support
ER/Studio Business Architect has been updated to take advantage of
changes implemented in ER/Studio Repository 6.0, such as multi-threading that
enables some processes to occur concurrently. ER/Studio BA 1.7 is incompatible
with previous versions of ER/Studio Repository.
New document, ER/Studio
Business Architect Quick Start Guide, replaces previous installation, new
features, and evaluation guides.
What's New in Version 1.6.1
ER/Studio Business Architect now supports Microsoft Windows 7.
Interface with ER/Studio
Repository
Both the standalone and enterprise editions of ER/Studio Business
Architect provide support for ER/Studio Repository.
ER/Studio Repository enables ER/Studio Business Architect business
modelers to share their models with other users and facilitating version
control to protect your intellectual assets. ER/Studio Business Architect supports
the following commands to interface with ER/Studio Repository 5.5:
For details on using these Repository commands, see the ER/Studio
Business Architect User Guide.
Release
Notes
Listed below are some of the known technical issues in ER/Studio
Business Architect 1.6.
·
Conceptual Model Update from ER/Studio Data Architect
Only the elements that were
originally created by importing the ER/Studio Data Architect model are updated.
Any elements that are created in ER/Studio Business Architect are not updated
with information imported from the ER/Studio Data Architect model. For example,
you have created an entity named “EntityOne” in
ER/Studio Business Architect. If you import an ER/Studio Data Architect model
with an entity with the same name containing attributes and descriptions, those
attributes and descriptions are not added to the existing ER/Studio Business
Architect entity.
·
Upgrading Workspaces
Upgrading
workspaces from previous releases may be problematic. Ensure you save copies of
the workspaces before upgrading them.”
·
Exporting Bound Business Attributes
When exporting to ER/Studio Data
Architect, business attributes with their datatype/description/notes
properties enforced, and which are bound to business elements or domains,
create ER/Studio Data Architect domains which allow attributes to override
their datatype/description/notes. If those domains
are then imported back into ER/Studio Business Architect, the created business
elements and/or domains will not enforce these properties. The workaround is to
reset the enforcement options from the Properties View for the business
element/domain.
