Thank you for using Embarcadero's EA/Studio Business Process Modeler Edition 1.5.2. This is a tool for creating a graphical representation of your business from the core concepts that describe the business, to the processes that run the business. EA/Studio's Process Modeling capabilities allow you to easily model your business processes and model how those processes use data. EA/Studio Conceptual Modeling provides an intuitive way to outline subject areas and concepts that can then drive the creation of detailed data models.
Getting Started
There are several tools available to help you get started with EA/Studio:
Once you install EA/Studio you can import and open the sample compressed workspace that is included with the install (x:\Program Files\Embarcadero\EAStudio Business Modeler Edition 1.5.2\samples\Workspaces\Waterfront Bank). Go to File>Import>Workspace from the main menu.
A video is available showing how simple it is to create a business process model. This is available on the Embarcadero website at http://www.embarcadero.com/solutions/video/quickfixes_processmodel.html.
For an in-depth "tutorial" an Evaluation Guide walks you through the creation and use of a basic workspace. This Evaluation Guide is available on the Embarcadero website at http://www.embarcadero.com/products/eastudio/eastudio_docs.html.
Before you use EA/Studio, please read the information below.

Known Issues
Listed below are some of the known technical issues in EA/Studio Business Modeler Edition 1.5.2.
Conceptual Model Update from ER/Studio
Only the elements that were originally created by importing the ER model are updated. Any elements that are created in EA/Studio are not updated with information imported from the ER model. For example, you have created an entity named “EntityOne” in EA/Studio. If you import an ER model with an entity with the same name containing attributes and descriptions, those attributes and descriptions are not added to the existing EA/Studio entity.
Upgrading Workspaces
When upgrading 1.0, 1.1, and 1.5 workspaces to 1.5.1, existing Impact Analysis diagrams cannot be updated by selecting the "Update Impact Analysis" menu. The diagram must be regenerated from the source element.
Exporting Bound Business Attributes
When exporting to ER/Studio, business attributes with their datatype/description/notes properties enforced, and which are bound to business elements or domains, create ER domains which allow attributes to override their datatype/description/notes. If those domains are then imported back into EA/Studio, the created business elements and/or domains will not enforce these properties. The workaround is to reset the enforcement options from the Properties View for the business element/domain.
Bug Fixes
Bug # | Fix Description |
6004 | Unable to create a Web Report for a Diagram. |
6044 | The Validate against BPMN Specification preference should default to OFF. |
6055 | EA BME 1.5.1 Upgrade Installer does not upgrade preferences from EA BME 1.5.0 installation. |
