Thank you for using IDERA DB Optimizer, an enterprise SQL development and optimization tool that gives database developers and administrators the perfect environment for building the best performing SQL code. This application easily identifies inefficient SQL code and boosts developer productivity by ensuring SQL is right before it becomes a problem in mission-critical applications. DB Optimizer also provides a rich SQL IDE with code completion, real-time error checking, code formatting and sophisticated object validation tools. Lastly, DB Optimizer provides advanced project and data source management tools.

WaRNING:   DB Optimizer 17.0.1 and later cannot use any workspaces produced by previous DBO versions, nor Use any files created by those older workspaces.

Fixed Issues

There are no new features in DB Optimizer 17.0.3. This release does include a number of fixed issues that you may review in Bug Fixes.

DB Optimizer 17.0.1 includes additional licensing updates to bring it into standard with other IDERA products.

DB Optimizer 17.0.1 contains the following redesigned components for a better user experience:

·        Main window tab right-hand mouse options

SQL Server enhancements

DB Optimizer 17.0.1 offers a number of SQL Server-related enhancements including:

·        The Tuning Statement window includes a drop-down list of schemas when viewing SQL Server databases.

·        The DB Optimizer Profiler now properly displays SQL statement detail.

·        Improved error messages.

Updated Licensing

DB Optimizer includes a new licensing process to bring it into standard with the rest of the DB PowerStudio products.

Updated Installer

The installer for DB Optimizer now:

·        Verifies that a supported version of windows OS exists on the machine before continuing with the installation

·        Offers offline .MSI files for installation

Removed Auto-Update and Install New Software features from Help Menu

This version of DB Optimizer includes an updated Help menu that no longer includes Auto-Update and Install New Software options.

Known Issues

The SQL Server sqlvariant data type is not currently supported by the Microsoft JDBC driver. If a query is used to retrieve data from a table that contains a column of the sqlvariant data type, an exception will occur. There are two workarounds to fix this issue:

·        Use CAST to type cast the sqlvariant columns to the data type you want.

Or

·        Use the jTDS driver to connect.
